Born in Japan and raised in Columbus, OH, Paula's illustrative line work pull from both her Eastern and Western heritage. Primarily working in ink and gouache, she is beginning to expand into digital media. By using popular themes such as food, sexuality, family structure and violence, she touches various overlapping themes she's witnessed in her life. Several reoccurring subject matter can be recognized, such as the relation with consumption of the human form and exploring cultural and race expectations.
